The Erosion of Democracy
I have grave concerns when a government, duly elected by citizens, becomes so arrogant it no longer feels the need to answer to anyone, particularly citizens. I have grave concerns when a government becomes so sneaky, underhanded, deceitful and lacking in character, nothing said can be believed - if they feel the need to say anything at all. I have grave concerns when a government behaves autonomously in a democratic society and with complete disregard for the rights of citizens.
We already know that the benefits of TILMA, touted by the liberals, are based on fallacy not fact. The Conference Board of Canada study includes resource sectors such as forestry, fishing, mining, and energy in their over-inflated calculations - areas supposedly exempt from TILMA. Unless, of course, the Conference Board of Canada knows something we don't. Read more ...
Tilma - The race to the bottom
The TILMA Agreement, if implemented, will effectively strip governments, at all levels, from making public policy on behalf of its citizens if those policies are deemed to be restrictive to private business making a profit. Governments (and therefore citizens) will no longer have any control over social policies such as health care (there will be no public heath care), sustainable food production, education, social services, etc. Nothing will be 'off limits.' A brief comment about this site. I am not affiliated with any organization, I am simply one concerned citizen. This site was created to both inform and create easy access to articles of interest in an effort to generate discussion on TILMA. I hope I’ve succeeded. I would also like to thank the COC (in particular Ellen Gould), CCPA and others for their tireless efforts in exposing the perils of TILMA.
